The Kindle reader from Amazon, has access to thousands of e-books, from timeless classics to recent favourites. Best of all, some of the greatest literary classics of all time have been around long enough for the copyright to expire, and many of these books are free to download on the Kindle or other e-book readers! Here are five books that many people have said they’d like to get around to reading “some day.” Now there is no excuse to put them off any longer!

Treasure Island, by Robert Louis Stevenson

It’s the book that launched a thousand ships – Hollywood pirate ships, that is. This is the original piece of pirate literature, a classic tale of adventure and daring. The hero is young Jim Hawkins, but the heart of the story is Long John Silver, the charming but devious ship’s cook with a sinister past. Treasure Island is a quick read: the 34 chapters are each very short.
